asoline prices fell 15.5 cents in the past two weeks to $2.87 a gallon, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

Two weeks ago, Lundberg recorded a record high of $3.03 a gallon.

The price drop reflects the end of the summer driving season, according to Lundberg.

The period for the survey ran from August 11 through Friday. The Department of Energy is scheduled to release its weekly gasoline and diesel price survey Monday afternoon.

The cheapest gas was in Des Moines, Iowa, where drivers paid an average of $2.60 per gallon. The highest was in Honolulu, Hawaii, at $3.23.
