FTR's Trucking Conditions Index jumped 56% to 7.7 in June from May, Bloomberg News reported.

The index has been positive for 39 consecutive months, indicating favorable market conditions, yet still is down 10.5% this year and 43% below the January 2010 peak of 13.5.

FTR said it expects the index to fall about 8% on average this year from 2014.

While capacity should remain tight because of a driver shortage, and demand remains strong, disappointing economic growth is tempering truckers' expectations for the second half of the year, Bloomberg reported.
