Frozen Food Express’ 1Q Loss Narrows

Frozen Food Express Industries said late Monday its first-quarter loss narrowed from a year ago and its less-than-truckload operations improved.

The refrigerated carrier reported a loss of $3.3 million, or 18 cents per share, compared with a loss of $5.6 million, or 32 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 11.3% to $97.8 million. Truckload services revenue rose 9% to $37.9 million, and less-than-truckload jumped 17.8% to $33.4 million.



Brokerage and logistics services operating revenue fell 4.2% to $6.7 million, the company said.

Frozen Food Express is ranked No. 61 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, and is the sixth-largest refrigerated-sector carrier.
