To stay comfortable and entertained, drivers often spend their nights in their cabs as the engines continue to rumble while the trucks do not move.
But an emerging technology may make it possible for drivers to heat or cool their cabs, watch television and exchange e-mails or surf the Internet while parked.
In addition to staying entertained and comfortable, the technology, which Freightliuner could make available on commercial vehicles as early as 2003, will reduce the amount of fuel the truck burns each day.

Frieghtliner Corp. rolled out a test truck that uses fuel cells to power the inside of the cab so truckers won’t have to keep their engines running through the night.
