Freightliner Predicts Record Profits for 2004

reightliner LLC, the largest North American maker of heavy-duty trucks, said its revenue increased 25% during the first eight months of 2004, Bloomberg reported.

Chief Executive Officer Rainer Schmueckle said 2004 revenue was about $7.4 billion through August, putting the company on track for a record annual profit in 2004, Bloomberg said.

Schmueckle also said 2004 would be the "best year" Freightliner has ever had in its history, even though the marketplace was "not anywhere close" to the 1999 record market.



reightliner, a unit of DaimlerChrysler AG, were among a number of truck makers benefiting as U.S. manufacturing strengthens and shipments of trucks rebound, Bloomberg said.
