Freightliner Moving 340 Jobs to East Coast
Freightliner LLC said Thursday that it will transfer 340 sales, marketing and customer support jobs from its corporate headquarters in Portland, Ore., to South Carolina, in order to be closer to its customers and production facilities.
Freightliner LLC Chief Executive Officer Chris Patterson said the company’s headquarters would remain in Portland. Freightliner LLC is the North American subsidiary of Daimler AG that oversees truck, bus and engine manufacturing businesses.
Freightliner did not say where the new office will be located, though said it would be “within a 75 mile radius of long-established Freightliner Trucks manufacturing facilities in the region.”
Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp., another subsidiary of Freightliner LLC, is located in Gaffney, S.C.
The transfers will be completed by July 31, Freightliner said.
