Forward Air’s Income Dips; Plans to Buy Indiana Carrier

Forward Air Corp., a contractor to the air cargo industry, reported its second-quarter profit declined, and the company said it would acquire an Indiana carrier.

The company’s second-quarter profit to $11.5 million or 38 cents a share, from $13 million or 41 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose 7.3% to $93.1 million, Forward Air said Monday night.

The company also said its Forward Air Solutions unit entered into an agreement to acquire certain assets of USA Carriers, a privately held provider of pool distribution services.



USAC, Fort Wayne, Ind., generated $32 million in revenue last year and has 11 facilities in the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest.

Forward Air is ranked No. 66 on the 2007 Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
