Forward Air Corp. opened an expanded support center in Columbus, Ohio, the company announced April 14.

The Columbus Support Center consolidates support teams from multiple facilities around the city into one centralized location. Forward Air said the move will help it deliver more coordinated and effective services to its customers.

“We are committed to a facility expansion plan that supports the evolving needs of our customers and independent contractor drivers,” Forward Air CEO Tom Schmitt said. “We’ve consolidated the operations of five buildings. It also put us into a position to expand door count by 30%.”

Forward Air said the new support center represents a strategic investment to deliver a better experience for employees, customers and independent contractor drivers. It will also offer improved amenities for those drivers, including expanded parking and storage. The support center will serve as the home base for safety and recruiting teams.

“The new support center represents the true fabric of our Forward DNA,” Ryan Gilliam, vice president of talent at Forward Air, said. “One centralized location will strengthen our collaborative team efforts across the company and create an improved experience for our teammates and our independent contractor drivers.”

Forward Air ranks No. 33 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 1 on the air/expedited sector list. — Transport Topics
