Forward Air Corp. will expand its expedited less-than-truckload service offering in the Chicago area with a new terminal in Bolingbrook, Ill., the company announced Feb. 6.

The Greeneville, Tenn.-based ground transportation and logistics services provider said the expansion is part of its growth strategy that involves organic infrastructure investments and inorganic investments.

The new facility is its third LTL location in the Chicago area.

“We continue to make investments that help our customers win more business,” Forward Air CEO Tom Schmitt said.

“Our Bolingbrook facility is another example of how we do it. The combination of speed and the lowest damage rates in the industry is a differentiator for companies looking to grow.”

Forward Air said it has been experiencing strong growth in the area. It expects the new location to improve transit times and same-day delivery capabilities throughout the Chicago area. The new facility is also near Chicago Midway International Airport.

Forward Air ranks No. 27 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 1 on the air/expedited sector list.
