Forward Air CFO Rodney Bell to Retire, XPO’s Michael Morris to Take Post

Forward Air Corp. announced that Chief Financial Officer Rodney Bell will retire on June 27 and that Michael Morris, an XPO Logistics executive, will replace Bell in the post.

Bell, who is 54, will remain at the company that ranks No. 34 on Transport Topics' list of the top 100 largest for-hire carriers in the U.S. and Canada until March 2017 as an adviser. Morris is senior vice president and treasurer at XPO, which is based in Michigan, where he served in the same role for Con-way Inc. before XPO acquired the company last year.

“Rodney will celebrate his 25th anniversary with Forward Air in March 2017,” CEO Bruce Campbell said in a statement that noted the company’s revenue has nearly tripled to $959.1 million during the 10 years that Bell was chief financial officer. “We thank Rodney for his many contributions to the company and, most importantly, his friendship and leadership over the years. We wish Rodney and his family all the best in retirement.”

Bell joined Forward Air in 1992 from a local accounting firm in its home city of Greeneville, Tennessee.

Campbell said Morris is “an accomplished senior executive with proven experience in the transportation industry, and Forward Air is pleased to welcome him.”
