Roger Nober, the former chairman of the Surface Transportation Board, has been elected a partner at the transportation practice group at Steptoe & Johnson, a Washington-based lobbying firm.

Nober left STB on Dec. 31 of last year.

According to its release, Steptoe “represents railroads, trucking companies, airlines, and ports . . . The firm’s rail clients include three of the four largest freight railroads in the country and the trade association of the rail industry, the Association of American Railroads.”

The current STB chairman is W. Douglas Buttrey.
