FMCSA Set to Issue Operating Authority to Mexican Carrier

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said Friday it will issue a permit for a Mexican carrier to begin operations in the U.S. under the cross-border trucking program.

The carrier, Transportes Olympic, meets the requirements of the pilot program and will receive long-haul operating authority, FMCSA said in a Federal Register notice published Friday.

Another Mexican trucking company, Grupo Behr, also passed a preliminary FMCSA inspection but will not be allowed to drive in the U.S. until regulators finish reviewing objections raised by the Teamsters Union and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association over its safey record, the notice said.
