The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended a comment period for states to establish commercial learner’s permits by a month, to July 9.

FMCSA published the extension in the Federal Register this week, in an update to its notice of proposed rulemaking to establish new minimum standards for states issuing CLPs.

The proposed rule also would revise commercial driver’s license knowledge and skills testing standards and improve anti-fraud measures within CDL programs.

The previous deadline had been Monday, June 9.
