FMCSA Close to Releasing Rules on Chassis Safety, New Entrants

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration spokesman said the agency hoped to publish its intermodal chassis safety rule and a proposal to strengthen its new entrant audit program by the end of the year.

The two rules have received approval from the White House Office of Management and Budget in the last week of November, clearing the way for FMCSA to publish them in the Federal Register.

Ian Grossman, FMCSA spokesman, told Transport Topics the agency was “targeting to publish both [proposed rules] before the end of 2006.”
