FMCSA Advisory Committee to Consider Highway Bill Proposals

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet Feb. 10-11 to provide ideas for the agency to consider related to the surface transportation bill Congress is developing.

A Jan. 27 notice in the Federal Register said the advisory group will meet in Alexandria, Va., and that the sessions are open to the public.

The House of Representatives has started to draft a replacement to the MAP-21 highway law, which expires Sept. 30. The law’s main purpose is to fund transportation projects, but it also gives Congress an opportunity to provide FMCSA and other parts of the Transportation Department with policy guidance.

The MCSAC meetings also will address issues related to the federal Compliance, Safety, Accountability program.
