First Agreement Reached in Feud Over Antilock Braking System Light

The financial dispute over a federally mandated antilock brake system warning light is apparently being resolved, less than a month before it threatened to stop production of new tractors and trailers.

Al Lesesky of Vehicle Enhancement Systems in Rock Hill, S.C., said he had gotten his first signed agreement by last week and was about to meet with other ABS manufacturers.

The quiet but bitter dispute involves the “generic” electronics adopted by all makers of antilock braking systems to send a malfunction signal to a light on the dashboard of tractors.

Federal rules require the warning light starting March 1.
