FedEx Freight has received the NGV Achievement Award from NGVAmerica for its new natural-gas fleet program in Oklahoma City. FedEx Freight has purchased more than 100 compressed natural gas tractors and has installed a CNG fueling station to serve the new CNG fleet at its Oklahoma City Service Center.

The four-lane fast-fill station features a six-zone, 18-hose time-fill station where tractors are fueled over an extended period of time, typically overnight.

“A fact we take very seriously at FedEx is that people want to do business with companies who invest in making the world a better place,” said Michael Ducker, CEO of FedEx Freight.

Ducker accepted the achievement award from NGVAmerica President Matthew Godlewski during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new fueling station, which was built by Clean Energy Fuels Corp.

“It was an honor for NGVAmerica to recognize FedEx Freight’s new commitment to natural-gas fueling,” Godlewski said. “As we continue to advocate for the industry to legislators in Washington and in the states, FedEx Freight is a great example of clean transportation leadership when it comes to reducing emissions through the use of more natural gas.”

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, FedEx Corp. CEO Fred Smith, Clean Energy co-founder T. Boone Pickens and Clean Energy CEO Andrew Littlefair were among those who attended the ribbon-cutting.

FedEx Corp., which is based in Memphis, Tennessee, ranks No. 2 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
