FedEx Ground Sets 4.9% Rate Increase for 2012

FedEx Corp. said it will boost rates for its FedEx Ground and FedEx home delivery services by 4.9% next year.

The net increase, to take effect Jan. 2, will include a 1% fuel-surcharge offset from a full average rate increase of 5.9%, the company said late Friday.

In August, FedEx’s less-than-truckload unit, FedEx Freight, announced a 6.75% rate increase, which took effect Sept. 6.

The company also said in September that shipping rates for FedEx Express would rise an 3.9% for U.S. domestic, import and export services,  also effective Jan. 2,



FedEx Corp. is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
