FedEx Ground Sets 4.9% Rate Increase
FedEx Corp. will boost rates at its FedEx Ground and home delivery services by an average 4.9% beginning in January, the company said late Friday.
The increase, to take effect Jan. 7, will include a 1% fuel-surcharge offset from a full average rate increase of 5.9%, FedEx said in a statement.
Competitor UPS Inc. said earlier this month it would raise its ground rates by an average 4.9%, starting Dec. 31.
FedEx Freight, the company’s less-than-truckload unit, boosted its rates by 6.9% in June.
FedEx Corp. is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
