Factory Orders Rise in November

Factory orders rose 0.7% in November, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

The increase followed a 0.7% drop in October that was smaller than originally reported.

Economists had forecast a 0.1% decline for November, Bloomberg reported.

Durable goods orders, which make up just over half of all orders, slipped 0.3%, better than the 1.3% drop forecast.

Capital goods orders including computers but excluding aircraft and military orders rose 2.6%.

The trucking industry relies on factory orders and shipments for much of its business.
