Factory Orders Rise 0.9% in November

Factory orders rose 0.9% in November, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.The increase, which was helped by military equipment orders, followed a revised 4.5% downturn in October.Excluding transportation orders, bookings fell 0.5% following a 0.9% decline the previous month. The increase was less than the 1.3% expected by economists, Bloomberg reported.Durable goods orders, which make up just over half of all orders, rose 1.6% after an 8.1% decrease in October.Orders for computers and electronics jumped 7.7% following a decrease of 9.8%.The trucking industry relies on factory orders and shipments for much of its business.
