Expeditors’ Second-Quarter Profit Improves

Logistics firm Expeditors International of Washington said Monday its second-quarter profit rose 67% to $90.3 million, or 42 cents a share, from $54.1 million, or 25 cents, a year ago.

Revenue jumped 69% from a year ago to $1.52 billion, and was 5% higher than the comparable quarter in 2008, the Associated Press reported.

Year-over-year airfreight and ocean freight volumes rose 54% and 26%, respectively, the company said in a statement.

Seattle-based Expeditors International of Washington is ranked No. 19 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics companies.
