Expeditors’ Second-Quarter Profit Improves

Logistics firm Expeditors International of Washington said Tuesday its second-quarter profit rose 5% to $95 million, or 44 cents a share, from $90.3 million, or 42 cents, a year ago.

Revenue increased 4% from a year ago to $1.58 billion.

Year-over-year airfreight volume dipped 1%, while ocean freight volume held steady, the company said in a statement.

The company opened an office in Chengdu, China, during the quarter.



Seattle-based Expeditors International of Washington is ranked No. 19 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics companies.
