OSTON — Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge urged the trucking industry to push for standardized security requirements to improve truck movement across U.S. borders.

He also said the federal government needs to improve the infrastructure at border crossings.

“A couple of things need to happen to maximize security and movement at borders,” Ridge told Transport Topics.

Ridge made his comments to TT Oct. 16 after speaking at the Advocacy and Government Affairs luncheon during American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition here.
