LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Espar Products Inc. will formally announce during the Mid-America Trucking Show that it is changing its name to Eberspaecher.

Executives at the heater supplier firm explained the move would help improve its brand recognition among consumers. While Espar will officially assume the Eberspaecher name, it will maintain the Espar name as a legal business entity, the company added.

“Based on user feedback and our deep-rooted commitment to customer satisfaction, rebranding our company is a logical transition that will enable us to provide you with 150 years of expertise, improved global support and a greater investment in research and development that only a company as large as Eberspaecher can provide,” the company said in a statement.

Since 1973, Espar had been the North American unit for the 150-year-old German-based company, which is a major developer of exhaust technology, vehicle heaters and bus air conditioning systems.

Last year, the firm launched products that maintain sleeper cabs’ temperatures and “hotel loads” through use of fuel-cell technology and compressed natural gas. Company executives noted a growing interest among fleets for systems that can maintain those temperatures while minimizing fuel usage and emissions.
