ileage on heavy-duty diesel engines designed to meet the October 2002 emissions requirements is accumulating to the point that maintenance issues have become a major topic for discussion at the first-ever meeting in Canada of the Technology & Maintenance Council, organizers said.

TMC, a unit of American Trucking Associations, said it would meet Nov. 12-13 in Toronto. The meeting includes a 30,000-square-foot display of transportation equipment and information technologies, TMC said.

The event is a partnership with the Canadian Trucking Alliance set to run in conjunction with the Ontario Trucking Association’s annual meeting, TMC said.

“We see this as a reciprocal relationship between ourselves and the Canadians. We want to offer the depth and resources of the TMC regarding technology and equipment issues that will help carriers improve their productivity,” TMC Executive Director Carl Kirk told Transport Topics Nov. 4.
