EGL’s Second-Quarter Income Rises; Revenue Slips
ransportation and logistics firm EGL Inc. reported second-quarter net income of $14.8 million or 36 cents a share, a 17% increase from $12.7 million or 25 cents from the same quarter last year.
Revenue slipped 1% to $771 million on declines in air, ocean and logistics activity, the company said late Monday.
Operating income rose 26% to $26.5 million from $21 million in 2005.
“We continue to focus the organization on profitable revenue growth across all product lines and increasing operating income in all geographic locations,” Chief Executive Officer Jim Crane said in a statement.
EGL, which operates under the name EGL Eagle Global Logistics, is ranked No. 11 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
