Echo Global Logistics Buys Mass. Truckload Carrier

Echo Global Logistics said it acquired Plum Logistics LLC, a refrigerated truckload carrier and transportation brokerage company based in Wakefield, Mass. Terms were not disclosed.

Purple Plum will begin doing business as Echo Global Logistics effective immediately, the Chicago-based third-party logistics firm said in a statement.

Founded in July 2008 by Sam Freni, Purple Plum is a non-asset service provider that specializes in temperature-controlled truckload operations and generated about $17 million in revenue in the past 12 months.

Echo Global Logistics is the fifth-largest freight brokerage firm in the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics firms.
