Eberspaecher will roll out the next generation of its fuel-operated air heaters before the end of the year, the company announced Aug. 26.

The third-generation Airtronic will be available across all performance classes. The product family will include four model variants in 12 versions to cover deployment in many commercial and special vehicles from recreational, transporters, ambulances, trucks and boats.

Eberspaecher said the updates raise the heating system to a new technical level and include features for functionality and comfort. All product variants will come with brushless motor, stepless heat output control and an optimized metering pump for quiet operation.

The combustion chamber was fully redesigned across all versions to give greater flexibility during installation. The new heat exchanger is intended to improve flow ratios within the heater itself to create higher efficiency.

Eberspaecher said the modified positioning of the temperature sensor has further improved the temperature control. The company noted the sensor-controlled sequences make the startup phase even more efficient.

The Airtronic 3 variants come with the electronic interfaces CAN (12/24V), LIN (12V), and S+ (12/24V). It also further integrates automatic altitude adjustment with a barometric pressure sensor to optimize consumption levels and enables automatic adjustment at altitudes of up to 18,040 feet (5,500 meters).

Eberspaecher is a global system developer for exhaust technology, vehicle heaters, air-conditioning systems and automotive electronics that is based in Germany.
