Eaton Says Its Hybrid Fleet Covers 30 Million Miles

Manufacturer Eaton Corp., Kalamazoo, Mich., said that trucks using its hybrid powertrain technology have logged about 30 million miles globally.

Eaton said that it took 10 years for vehicles using its hybrid powertrain systems to reach the 30 million mile mark. There are about 2,400 such vehicles in service globally, the company said.

Trucks and delivery vans operated by parcel carrier FedEx Corp., Memphis, Tenn., account for about a sixth of the miles accumulated by the Eaton hybrids, according to the company.
