Durable Goods Orders Fall in July

urable goods orders fell 2.4% in July on decreased demand for commercial aircraft and motor vehicles, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.

The decline follows a revised 3.5% gain In June, Commerce said.

xcluding transportation equipment, orders were up 0.5%, after a revised 2.2% increase in June.



conomists had predicted durable orders to fall 0.5%.

Trucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
