Durable Goods Orders Fall 0.3% in May

urable goods orders fell for a second straight month in May as aircraft demand declined, though rose excluding transportation equipment, the Commerce Department reported Friday.

rders for goods made to last several years dipped 0.3%, following April’s 4.7% drop, Commerce said.

Excluding transportation equipment, orders gained 0.7%, the eighth increase in 10 months.



Economists had predicted durable orders to rise 0.4%. Excluding transportation, they forecasted a 0.6% gain.

rucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
