Baldor now has 270,000 square feet, up from 160,000, as well as dozens of new loading docks, according to an Oct. 30 press release. Baldor also has added 300 jobs and more than 50 new delivery trucks.

“This expansion will help Baldor increase its product lines with new fruits and produce to serve the area’s top restaurants and grocery stores,” Baldor President Michael Muzyk said in the release. “Dresdner Robin’s incredible design added 42 loading docks and 300 parking spaces to the facility, and they worked diligently to ensure construction did not interrupt our 24/7 operation.”

Baldor has nearly 1,600 employees, importing and distributing fresh produce and specialty foods in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. It delivers meats, dairy, organics and fresh produce to stores and restaurants within a 120-mile radius of its location in Hunts Point.

Baldor has operated its facility in the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center since 2007. The center consists of more than 155 public and private wholesalers, which together generate more than $3 billion in sales annually.
