DOT Won’t Post Safety Scores Until Probes Are Completed

he Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said it will not follow through with its previously announced plan to repost the safety scores of motor carriers through its SafeStat system until after a pair of investigations are completed.

“We have not changed positions,” agency spokesman Ian Grossman told Transport Topics last week. “We’ve just pushed back the timeline.”

In March, FMCSA said it was preparing to repost the scores on its Web site within weeks. (Click here for previous coverage.)



However, in a June 12 letter to American Trucking Associations President Bill Graves, then-Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta said the agency would not yet repost the scores.
