DHL to Spend $250 Million to Expand in Russia

ackage carrier DHL May 24 said this week it plans to invest $250 million to expand its services in Russia after posting a 30% increase in shipment volumes there in the first quarter.

“The investments demonstrate our confidence in the high potential of the Russian economy and the express delivery and logistics market in particular,” said Klaus Zumwinkel, chief executive officer and chairman of DHL’s parent company, Deutsche Post World Net.

DHL said its investments are focused on infrastructure and facilities, new products, technology and personnel.



The company said its express business has shown double-digit growth both in domestic and international business in Russia.

DHL Americas is ranked No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
