DHL Signs Transport Contract With Wal-Mart

Carrier Will Move Goods for 4,000 U.S. Stores

DHL said Thursday it signed a three-year agreement with Wal-Mart Stores to provide air express and ground shipping throughout the United States, supporting the retail giant's 4,000 stores nationwide.

The contract nearly doubles the volume and revenue generated through a previously existing relationship, DHL said in a statement.

DHL will continue its exclusive specialty product repair and return delivery service for Wal-Mart under the contract, and the carrier has also been will provide specialty product transportation for Wal-Mart stores and affiliated Sam’s Clubs stores nationwide.

Wal-Mart added DHL as one of its primary carriers for its state transportation program for all outbound shipments from assigned states, including transportation among Wal-Mart retail stores, distribution centers and suppliers, DHL said.



DHL is ranked No. 3 on the 2007 Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers. Wal-Mart is ranked No. 2 on the TT Private 100 listing of private carriers.
