DHL Worldwide Express plans to focus on expanding overseas shipments from the United States after investing in a domestic package delivery network, Bloomberg reported.James Cameron, executive vice president of operations, described the international efforts at a meeting with customers and government officials in Washington.He said DHL has posted a “slight uptick” in U.S. package volume, Bloomberg reported.DHL, a unit of Germany’s Deutsche Post, has spent more than $2 billion on its U.S. operations since 2003 to compete with market leaders UPS Inc. and FedEx Corp., Bloomberg said.DHL said in December it did not expect to break even in its North American operations until 2009.DHL Americas is ranked No. 4 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
