Powertrain manufacturer Detroit, a unit of Detroit Diesel Corp., said it extended the number of fault codes monitored by its integrated remote diagnostic system, Connect Virtual Technician, to include those generated by its suite of safety systems, Detroit Assurance.

The new Detroit Assurance fault codes primarily will cover system malfunctions or when its active brake assist has been disabled by the driver, the company said.

Detroit Assurance — which is integrated into the truck’s engine and transmission, as well as the braking system and dashboard — is available on all Freightliner Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution trucks equipped with Detroit heavy duty engines, the Detroit-based company said.

Virtual Technician already records engine and aftertreatment fault code events, it said.

Detroit Diesel Corp. is a unit of Daimler Trucks North America.
