Descartes Acquires Trade Data Firm

Logistics software provider Descartes Systems Group said it has acquired Datamyne, a provider of trade data research tools. Terms were not disclosed.

Datamyne collects trade data from more than 50 countries across five continents and provides web-based software to help customers analyze import and export activity. The Miami-based firm operates primarily in the United States and South America.

Descartes, which is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, said Datamyne’s products complement Descartes’ Global Logistics Network, a platform for multinational shippers, third-party logistics providers and carriers to manage shipments.

“Many Datamyne customers who use our solutions to make informed decisions about sourcing and shipping activity also use Descartes’ Global Logistics Network to manage and execute the resulting shipments,” Datamyne CEO Brendan McCahill said in the Dec. 23 announcement. McCahill is now senior vice president of trade data content solutions at Descartes.
