DAT Solutions said its spot market loads for the seven-day period ended July 4 fell 20% compared with the prior weekly period.

The Trendlines report issued by the load board operator said that rates increased 2 cents per mile, or 1.1% for vans, and 1 cent per mile, or 0.5 cent, for refrigerated trailers. Flatbed rates fell 0.5%.

DAT’s latest report noted a 5.7% rise in spot market loads in June, over the previous month. Rates rose for all trailer types on a month-over-month basis as well, led by a 1.4% increase in the refrigerated sector.

The load board operator’s year-over-year statistics trended in the opposite direction. Loads were 21% lower last month than in the 2014 period. Rates in all categories declined, clustered around the 10% range.
