Daimler Sets Surcharges for 2010 Cummins Engines

Daimler Trucks North America said it will add a $9,000 surcharge to its 2010 trucks for customers who select independent manufacturer Cummins Inc.’s 2010 heavy-duty engine.

It said the surcharge would apply to the 2010 Cummins ISX15 for new emissions technology needed to meet Environmental Protection Agency standards that take effect for 2010 model trucks on Jan. 1.

It said it would add a surcharge of $7,300 for the 2010 Cummins ISC 8.3 engine, and $6,700 for vehicles equipped with Cummins ISB6.7 engines.

DTNA said last month it would put the same $9,000 surcharge for Detroit Diesel Corp.’s big-bore DD15 and DD16 engines, as well as the mid-bore DD13.

Global truck maker Daimler AG is the parent company of DTNA and Detroit Diesel.
