Daimler Reportedly to Move Cordes from Commercial Vehicles to Mercedes

A German newspaper reported Monday that Eckhard Cordes, the head of DaimlerChrysler AG’s commercial vehicle unit, would be transferred to the company’s Mercedes luxury car division, Bloomberg News said.

Die Welt am Sonntag said Daimler would also appoint Ulrich Walker as Cordes’ replacement sometime in 2005, Bloomberg reported.

Cordes led the company’s commercial vehicle back to profitability and is replacing the retiring Juergen Hubbert at Mercedes.

The changeover should take place in spring 2005, the newspaper said.
