Daimler Expects $2.71 Billion 2Q Profit

Daimler AG said Friday it expects to announce a second-quarter profit of 2.1 billion euros ($2.71 billion), due in part to improved results in its truck business.

In a preliminary announcement of its earnings, the German truck maker said that revenues will be 25.1 billion euros ($32.42 billion) for the second quarter of 2010.

Preliminary earnings for Daimler Trucks will be 300 million euros ($387.54 million), the company said. Revenue at Daimler Trucks will be 5.85 billion euros ($7.56 billion) for the quarter when Daimler AG announces its earnings July 27.

In a statement, Daimler said the improved results in its truck unit are due to positive sales development in major markets and measures to reduce costs.

Daimler said it will revise its earnings forecast for 2010 when it announces its second-quarter earnings.
