Cummins Westport Inc. said it has promoted Rob Neitzke to president from general manager of the construction segment of Cummins’ off-highway engine business.

Neitzke, who will start the new position Jan. 1, has been with Cummins since 1994. He has had various roles in the high-horsepower fuel-systems division, including industrial-applications engineering and emerging market strategy for India, Russia and Africa.

Cummins Westport is a joint venture of Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc. for heavy- and medium-duty natural-gas truck engines.

“In the last five years, Rob’s leadership and strategic initiatives have contributed to the success of the Cummins construction segment, increasing its revenue, profit and market share globally,” Ed Pence, Cummins’ vice president of high-horsepower engine business, said in a statement.

“We expect Rob to bring the same kind of leadership, performance and growth mindset to [Cummins Westport] in the next phase of its expansion in coming years,” he said.

Gordon Exel, CWI’s current president, will return to a senior position at Westport. As part of the terms of the joint venture, Westport will nominate the chairman for the next three-year term starting Jan. 1.
