Cummins Inc. said late Tuesday that Jim Kelly, president of its engine business, will leave the position in March and that it will name a successor “in the very near future.”

Kelly, who has led the engine business since 2005, will “lead a number of key cross-business strategic projects” after he steps down in March.

“Jim has been instrumental in the Engine Business’ success and transformation over the last two decades,” Cummins President Tom Linebarger said in a statement.

Kelly has worked for Cummins since 1976, and has worked in various leadership positions within the engine business, including as manager for two plants.
