Engine maker Cummins Inc.’s remote diagnostics application now is available to fleets using Omnitracs’ in-cab telematics devices, the companies said in a joint announcement.

Cummins Connected Diagnostics provides near real-time alerts on engine fault codes to help fleets streamline vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Omnitracs said the remote diagnostics system is available with its Mobile Computing Platforms and its Fault Monitoring application’s Extended Faults add-on.

“Cummins Connected Diagnostics enabled by Omnitracs’ Fault Monitoring application will support a proactive approach to engine maintenance and repair while enhancing the value that we deliver to our mutual customers,” Richard Glasmann, Omnitracs’ vice president of OEM strategy, sales and marketing, said in the statement.

“Connected Diagnostics can now instantly benefit Omnitracs and Cummins customers with genuine Cummins guidance in response to transmitted engine system fault data,” said John Malina, executive director for Cummins’ product connectivity business.
