federal judge has refused to issue an immediate order that truckload carrier J.B. Hunt stop hiring drivers from CRST International Inc.

CRST said its request for an emergency injunction was part of a legal campaign to recover some of its costs for training new drivers.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa on June 29 denied CRST’s request for a temporary restraining order that would have forced J.B. Hunt to stop hiring its contracted drivers, minutes of the court proceedings showed.

“This is a big deal for us. It was an attempt by us to get some relief from the court system between now and the time we go to trial,” David Rusch, president of CRST Van Expedited Inc., told Transport Topics.
