Contrans’ Second-Quarter Income Dips

Contrans Group said its second-quarter income fell slightly from a year ago, citing a wet spring that delayed construction projects, and labor disputes in Ontario and Quebec.

Net income slipped to C$8 million from C$8.1 million a year ago, while earnings per share were 24 cents in both quarters.

Transportation services revenue rose to C$119.2 million from C$115 million.

Woodstock, Ontario-based Contrans said it has acquired several businesses since the end of the second quarter, adding about C$5.3 million in transportation-services revenue.

Contrans Group is ranked No. 51 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
