Intermodal equipment pool operator Consolidated Chassis Management said that Jon Poelma has been appointed senior vice president and chief operator, succeeding CEO Phil Wojcik in the top management post.

Wojcik will retire July 31, said the statement by the firm that manages six regional chassis pools with more than 140,000 pieces of equipment and 240 operating locations. Wojcik, who has headed CCM for seven years, will continue affiliation with the company as senior advisor to its board.

Poelma was vice president of operations since 2012. Previously, he was an executive at Schneider National and ocean carrier Maersk Line.

“Jon has deep experience in the industry and has made major contributions to CCM’s development. He is a great choice,”  said Ed McCarthy, chairman of the board of CCM and chief operating officer of ocean carrier CMA-CGM America Inc. “Jon has worked closely with Phil for several very successful years, so we look forward to a smooth transition.”

He added, “Under Phil’s direction, CCM has become the largest cooperative chassis pool management company in the U.S.”

CCM was created in 2005 by the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association, a trade group that includes 18 ocean carriers, as a method of increasing chassis management efficiency.
