Conn. Hikes Diesel Tax 11 Cents

Diesel fuel taxes in Connecticut increased 11 cents a gallon to 37 cents from 26 cents on July 1.

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services said the change reflects motor vehicle fuel tax legislation passed during the 2007 session of the state’s General Assembly.

Under the legislation, gasoline taxes will not increase.

The Revenue Department also said it would no longer collect gross earnings taxes for diesel — or taxes on the sale of diesel from wholesalers to retailers or private terminal owners in the state.
